This week being Shabbos Shiroh, it is relatively easy to find a song.
That being said, I've noticed the last couple of weeks there are more parshios than I thought with little to no text that has been used for songs, which has become the main reason I changed the title to Shir HaShavua. I'll try to explain when necessary in weeks with no sourced song.
Going over the weekly shnaim mikrah I realized there is no text in this weeks parsha that has been used as a song (unless I am mistaken). So I will cheat. I'll use a topic from this weeks Parsha.
Today I wil be starting a weekly post for songs featured in the Psukim (verses) of the weekly Torah portion or even the Haftorah. The post will usually contain 1 song from either the Parsha, Haftora or even the meforshim of either.
This is the first of those so I will be treating the blog with 2 songs.
First off is the verse in the blessing from Ya'akov to Dan (Bereishis 49:18)
Off of the recently released Shlomo Katz album Likrat Shabbat
The easy choice for Shir HaShavua* would have been the all time kumsitz classic "HaMalach"
From the blessing Ya'akov gives to Yosef which would be passed onto his ne'arim, Ephraim and Menashe.
